MASAKI SAKAMOTO is from Utsunomiya, a city 60 miles north-east from Tokyo, Japan. Started playing the piano at the age of three. In 1996, started working as a neurologist, and also as a pianist in Tokyo. He supported to play the keyboards and the talking modulator in a CD titled "Ikiru" by the rap unit "TEKO" which was released in 2000. Besides his outstanding performance in the field of jazz, he qualified as a specialist for neurology.
Sakamoto formed a jazz unit "Vertige", then started flexible live performance and some recordings. He presented the title tune in the CD "dekiai-blind love"(ACRC-001) which was released in 2002 on one hand. On the other hand, hard edge jazz was also recorded by "Vertige".
Recently, Sakamoto formed a electronic music unit "Manic State Chameleon", and performed in an eve of the festival "Tokyo JAZZ 2002". The performance was broadcasted on TV "NHK", which is the national broadcast station in Japan.
In 2003, his remix track "A point RE:view MIX" was released on "PM" (Cornelius "Point" remixies). And in 2004, his brand-new remix "The Landsong Re-Landing" and a brand-new track "Polka Dots & Sl@yremoonbeams" by a brand-new unit called "SL@yRe & The Feminine StoolƒÌ" with Kawatory, who also presented a track "Kawatolius remix" on "PM", released on the compilation CD titled "DOCUMENTO -RADIO SAKAMOTO-", produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
In 2005, Sakamoto and Kawatory appeared on the program of J-WAVE "RADIO SAKAMOTO", and performed a live with two laptops on the small table in front of the four guys "KARISUMA" including Ryuichi Sakamoto. On the end of July, the first album of SL@yRe & The Feminine StoolƒÌ, "Phut Cr@ckle Tokyo [K] " was released from Sublime Records. Now, downloading is available at iTunes Music Store(J).
In 2006, he worked on recording for his solo project.
In 2007, his first solo album titled "ENDOTONES" is released on 8th Aug. The EP "EXOTONES" is also now available at iTunes Music Store only. They include some collaboration with Atom TM, Yukalicious and Co-Fusion.
He is continuing his career in the field of music, and also as a neurologist specializing in brain, both in research of degenerative disease and clinical practice.
